November’s early darkness hit hard this week. I missed dance class, slipped into comfort eating, and felt the weight of the season. But inside the struggle was a quiet midlife metamorphosis—revealing why this class matters, how November affects women over 55, and how we can rise again with compassion.
🌒 Emerging From the Chrysalyss: A Midlife Metamorphosis
There are seasons in midlife when we don’t feel like we’re blooming — we feel like we’re cocooning. Quiet. Inward. Gathering strength before our next becoming. I call this the Chrysalyss, the sacred pause before a midlife metamorphosis begins.
Returning to dance wasn’t just movement — it was emergence. A reminder that growth after 55 is not dramatic or rushed. It's tender. Intentional. Courageous in the softest, strongest ways.
Midlife metamorphosis is not about starting over — it's about rising differently. One shaky step, one breath, one moment of self-compassion at a time.
Finding Strength Through Dance: Lessons from Session One
Seven weeks. Seven Mondays of stretching, stumbling, smiling, and surprising myself. My adult jazz dance class started as a way to get moving again — but it became something more: a guide for life after 55. Each week offered a lesson in letting go, showing up, and finding joy in the awkward bits. As I close Session One, I see how dance has become my mirror — reflecting who I am, who I’m becoming, and how we can all keep growing, one step (and one song) at a time.
