🌟 Midlife in Motion: Stories, Growth & Joy After 55
Empowering women 55+ to live with intention, purpose, and joy — one step at a time.
Welcome to Midlife in Motion — a living journal and learning space created for women 55+ who are rewriting what this season of life can look and feel like. Here, I share real stories, personal reflections, lessons from the dance floor, and gentle mindset shifts that help us move forward with curiosity, courage, and compassion.
Whether you're building confidence, exploring new passions, nurturing your well-being, or simply trying to feel more like yourself again, this is your space to breathe, reset, and rise—slowly, intentionally, joyfully.
Midlife isn’t winding down. It’s a waking up.
Let’s walk (and dance) into our next chapter — on purpose, together.
Finding Strength Through Dance: Lessons from Session One
Seven weeks. Seven Mondays of stretching, stumbling, smiling, and surprising myself. My adult jazz dance class started as a way to get moving again — but it became something more: a guide for life after 55. Each week offered a lesson in letting go, showing up, and finding joy in the awkward bits. As I close Session One, I see how dance has become my mirror — reflecting who I am, who I’m becoming, and how we can all keep growing, one step (and one song) at a time.
Women Over 55 Finding Magic in the Hard Bits in Dance
When life feels heavy, movement can lift you higher.
In this week’s Lessons from the Dance Floor, Chris reflects on the final class of Session One — a night of sighs, soreness, and unexpected self-discovery. Through her daughter’s guidance and her own persistence, she learns that the true magic for women over 55 happens not in perfection, but in showing up through the hard bits.
✨ A story of resilience, release, and rediscovering your spark — one dance step at a time.
Women Over 55 Finding Space to Breathe Through Movement
Sometimes the world feels too heavy to carry — the news, the noise, the endless to-do lists. But in the stillness of nature, and the rhythm of movement, we can exhale again.
This week on Lessons from the Dance Floor, I explore how women over 55 can find space to breathe — in body, mind, and spirit.
Dance Floor Lessons: Women Over 55 Letting Go of Perfection
Week Five brought a powerful lesson: you can’t control everything — and you don’t have to. For women over 55, this week’s class revealed how letting go of perfection can create strength far beyond the dance floor through self-compassion, flow, and presence. Through laughter, pain, and a few fast diagonals, I learned that joy lives in letting go.
Lessons from Dance & Life: Women Over 55 Embracing Change
Week Four on the dance floor wasn’t easy: sore knees, old habits, and low energy. But dance has become my keystone — teaching me that for women over 55, embracing change, persistence and honesty matter more than perfection. This week, I share how pain, laughter, and community keep me showing up.
Lessons from the Dance Floor: Women Over 55 Finding Joy
Week Three on the dance floor was a mix of awkward diagonals, laughter, and a powerful jazz adage. This blog explores how women over 55 finding joy can embrace connection, humor, and persistence — proving that joy doesn’t require perfection, only the courage to keep showing up.
Women Over 55 Building Confidence One Dance Step at a Time
Week Two on the dance floor: stiff knees, brain fog, and awkward moves. Discover how women over 55 build confidence through persistence, humour, and joy.
Lessons from the Dance Floor: Starting Over After 55
At 74, I stepped into my first adult jazz dance class—and discovered lessons every woman over 55 can relate to. This first post in my new series, Lessons from the Dance Floor, explores what it means to be a beginner again, to show up imperfectly, and to silence the gremlins of self-doubt.
